EVENING ACTIVITIES

The EEO will decide which evening activities to include:

Video all itineraries (except possibly for international school groups)

Campfire 3 or 5 Day Itineraries Only

Night Drive 4 or 5 Day Itineraries Only

Night Walk 4 or 5 Day Itineraries Only – after completion of walkway system

Video:

  • Only the EEO or other specially trained staff can run the projector.
  • For whole class in 3-day itinerary. For one activity group at a time in the 4 or 5 day itineraries.
  • The EEO will decide which film to present.

Campfire:

  • For the whole class.
  • The EEO will decide which version to use.
  • All campfires may begin with the guides (or teachers or children) leading the class in campfire songs. The best songs would be ones that have to do with nature or conservation.
  • Children sit in a semicircle around the fire.
  • Main Event Options:
    • Conservation Play (by Guides, Students or both)
    • Traditional Stories about Conservation
    • Ingonyama Performance
    • "Meet the …"
      • Anti-poaching Patrol
      • Dog Tracker
      • Researcher
      • International Tourist
      • Lodge Manager
      • National Parks Ranger/Officer
      • Chief

Night Drive:

  • In activity groups only.
  • On Ganda Concession.
  • Driver and Guide both lead.

Night Walk:

  • In activity groups only.
  • On walkway system.
  • Torches may be distributed and used for part of the walk, but at least part should be by night vision only.
