Iganyana Bush Camp STUDENT ORIENTATION PLAN WELCOME -EEO decides who will drive the kids. -EEO distributes rooming lists to each guide for his activity group. -drivers escort the kids to the dinning hall. -guide at the gate. -guide at the dinning hall. -welcome remarks and introductions in dining hall. -break into groups and name them by packs -guide/teacher upstairs with Sethule. -EEO downstairs with Ithemba -3rd activity group would meet at campfire area
ACTIVITY GROUP ORIENTATION -play the name game(animal/tree with similar letter to yours) -am & pm stick to these groups -Introduce pack name -at night, meals and free-time, we are all together. -four main activities (one out & three within camp) -education programme just a portion of CCEC. -local community built this camp. -all sponsored by PDC. -purpose of CCEC is to teach people about conservation (what is conservation?)
SITE ORIENTATION -fence, dinning hall, activity deck, campfire ring, ring of huts -place (stay within bounds), gate to rehab – only pass with guide -teachers chalets (out of bounds) -show them my room and teachers’ for any need. -teachers ablutions gate – out of bounds -trail gate to teak woodlands - only pass though with guide. -boys only ablution block. -how to use the seat - if messed, clean it yourself -"Occupied" rope gate use -toilet paper -sinks don’t take soap away. -shower and dressing room (daily once),soap provided leave after use -urinary for boys (send girls away) -bush camp office. -student hut (enter only your own hut) -beds with mattress and blanket. -make bed (demo) daily routine there after. -tucking the mosquito net down and roll up. -each room with a broom. -put your bags under the beds. -lights switched on/ off timeously, torch used when ZESA is out. -window and door opening (demo)-reed wall may be electrified at some
CHECK IN (back at original meeting place)-issue logbooks/pencils. -go over the rules and schedule in logbook(fill in blanks using portable white board) -decide on where to re-group and play game (logbooks/pencils not needed) -assign rooms, review tasks in hut -go and make beds -check rooms ICE-BREAKER GAMES -regroup to play games until almost noon -ask for volunteers to be actors in the campfire play -discuss free time options (play practice) -announce when (noon - bell) and where to meet for lunch. (meals orientation as a class) -dismiss for free-time until lunch | |
